A chat about convergence

Things were... big in the 80s.
Now they are not.

New Media is all very cool. It's shiny, and it's exciting, and it's high tech (the Geek Holy Trifecta!), however it's also got one very interesting feature: convergence.

What is convergence?

Well, it means coming together. As far as we are concerned, it means the ways in which new media technologies are coming together so that now you need just one device to do all of the tasks which, in the past, required a whole lot of devices.

Your task for today is as follows:

Choose on of the following New Media devices:

- Smart Phone .

- Video capable Mp3 player.

- iPad or tablet

Now find out the following:

- What it is.

- When it was developed, and a little bit of it's history.

- What it does.

- What you needed to do those things before.

- What it's advantages are.

- Why people should/do buy it.

Present your findings on your shiny shiny new blog. Remember to include:

- A picture of the New Media Device.

- Pictures of ALL the devices you needed to do what it does in the past.
